Robyn Ritter Simon, a Beverlywood resident, had an original suggestion,saying she would appoint a business deputy if elected. "No council memberhas ever had a deputy exclusively devoted to business concerns," she said.Ritter Simon added that she would also seek to raise the business tax exemptionfor small businesses to $250,000 from the current $100,000. Robyn Ritter Simon: Rocking the neighborhood

WESTSIDE L.A. - Robyn Ritter Simon's reputation as a community activist, organizer and grassroots leader long precedes her run for this year's 5th District City Council seat. Back in 1995, the mother of three rallied together with a handful of other parents to create The Beverlywood Moms. They set out to turn around their then flailing local public Canfield elementary school and make it a place they'd want to send their kids. The success of that organization, not only led to Ritter Simon helping out other parents in local schools, it is what has fueled her to run for office this year.
